Gentlemen,
Another good day for golf some say. However, others of us were unsettled by the lack of a strong wind. I can't understand how or why but our yellow ball scored more highly that the best of the other two. I'm sure it's not supposed to work that way. In first place with 86 points were Lester Wilson, Andrew Henderson and Hugh McKail . Their accounts will each be credited with £5. In joint second place with 85 points were the team of Gordon Arbuthnot, George Hunter and Dave Pavitt, and the team of Ian Burns, Jim Campbell and George Tindle.. Their accounts will each benefit by £3. Well done to all of the above, and to those others who narrowly missed out. £5 will be allocated to the prize fund. Kind regards, Mike

Click herGentlemen,
Another reasonable day for golf allowed 30 of our number to enjoy today's Greensome Competition. The result was fairly close with only 2 points separating the top 4 teams. In first place with 43 points were Gordon Arbuthnot and Bernard Spalding. Their accounts will each be credited with £5. In joint second place were the team of Alan Boyd & Alex Henderson, and Jim Jackson & Willie Leitch. Their accounts will each benefit by £3. And in third place were the team of Hugh Barclay and Bob Leitch. Their accounts will each be boosted by £2. For information only: Twos today were carded by Drew Carlyle and Jim Wilson at the 18th, and by Alex Henderson and Alan Boyd at the 12th. Well done to all of the above, and to those others who narrowly missed out. Gentlemen,
The rain that was forecast today did not materialise other than for a very short spell, and so 21 of us enjoyed fairly benign conditions. As a result there were some high scores and some members will be relieved that they were not playing in a counter. In first place with 45 points was Houston Fyfe. His account will be boosted by £6. I had the privilege of playing with Houston today and his short game was a joy to behold. In second place was Ian Burns with 42 points. His account will benefit to the tune of £4. In third equal place (41 points) were David Grant and Jim Wilson. They will each be credited with £2.50. And with 40 points were George Tindle, Jim Jackson and Eddie Maurer who will each get £1. Twos today were recorded by Eddie Maurer at the 12th, Houston Fyfe at the 10th, and David Grant at the 18th. Only the 5th hole was unavailable today in respect of which each player was awarded two points. Claims from those who allegedly always get at least 3 points at this hole were laughed out of court. £3 will be allocated to the prize fund Kind regards, Mike Gentlemen, please note the following:
23rd May – since the course has to be cleared by 15.00 for the Club Nickson Trophy Competition, we have decided to have a Greensome event. The number of holes forming that event is dependent upon tee times we manage to book. Consequently that information will be advised when the Initial draw is issued. Weekly “Check in” Routine – since the effect of the COVID pandemic have greatly reduced, your organisers have agreed that from 6th June onwards we will revert to the checking in process being carried out within the Mixed Lounge, at least 20 minutes prior to your tee off time. In the event that no catering staff are available to serve us, this may mean bringing some cash with you for the coffee machine, should you require to use that. Kind regards, Mike ntlemen
The early starters got the better of the weather today, but 25 of us enjoyed the golf nevertheless, and didn't get too wet. Only 16 holes were available, but that did not affect the better ball format today. Results In 1st place with 41 points were the trio of Jim Jackson, Ian Burns and Franklin Henry. Their accounts will each be credited with £4.00. In 2nd place with 37 points were the trio of Bernie Spalding, Tom Bissett and myself who's accounts will be credited with £ 2.00, and in 3rd place with 36 points were the trio of Stuart Millar, Tom Porter and Bob McKenzie who's accounts will each be credited with £1.00. The remaining £4.00 will be added to the prize fund. Kind regards, Mike Jim Scrimshire is very keen to commence organising 9 (or so) holes of golf on Monday Mornings, probably following our tee offs, so that those taking part can also meet some of those in our group who play 18 holes. If you are interested in switching to a Nine Hole format please contact Jim directly:
