Hello Gentlemen, 39 of us enjoyed rather cool windy weather during yesterday’s 5 Club 9 Hole event. Scoring was not the highest you have ever seen, but when the number of clubs and weather are taken into account, they weren’t too bad. Results – Since these have been prepared by Bill, we agreed that to save a lot of duplicated work they can be seen on the website, so here they are! In the attachment you will find yesterday's results, the end-of-season "Counter" winners and the winners of the Mancini Trophy. Congratulations to all of the winners, and best of luck to everyone for our next season. ![]()

There was no Seniors Competition on the 19th September on the occasion of the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 2nd.
Hello Gentlemen,
26/09/22 – 9 Hole event + Putting and Prize giving dinner thereafter. Yesterday, I asked those who were golfing, and noted names of those who wished to attend this prestigious event. Would those of you who were unable to attend yesterday and who would like to take part in our end of session extravaganza please advise me, or an organiser, as soon as you can. Please also make your response clear as to whether you wish to (a) play and (b) eat. It is likely that apart from your normal £1.00 to the Organisers at Check In , you will be asked to pay £ 15.00 (which will cover soup and a choice from 3 main courses) at the bar. This also includes a gratuity of £ 2.00. Kind regards, Hugh Hello Gentlemen,
Today 36 of us enjoyed lovely weather conditions, if slightly windy for our 3:2:1 team event. Scoring, as you will perceive, was moderate to high. Results: In 1st place with 28.25 points - Team 4 – Comprising George Brown, Graham Hay, Chris Phillips and Kevin Scott who will each be credited with £ 4.00. In 2nd place with 26.00 points - Team 5 – Comprising Ian Macphee, Peter Mackie, Alex Henderson and George Shearer who will each be credited with £ 2.00. In 3rd equal place with 25.25 points - Teams 6&7 – Comprising John McGuire, Andy Fraser, Jack McGeoch and Mike McDougall ; Robert Wardrope, Jim Wilson, Hugh Barclay and Norman Forsythe who will each be credited with £ 1.00. The remaining £4.00 will be added to the prize fund. Kind regards, Hugh Hello Gentlemen,
Today 46 of us enjoyed lovely warm weather for our Final Counter for this session. Quite a few of us used the round to submit a General Play Round Score through the Scottish Golf App. There appeared to be a consensus that the technological process took a little time to get to grips with but that it was worthwhile. Scoring ranged from a very high 44 to a number which was less than half of it. Results: In 1st place with 44 points ( including an inward half of 26 points ) – Peter Mackie who will be credited with £ 8.00. In 2nd place with 41 points – Filippo Mancini who will be credited with £ 6.00. In 3rd equal place with 40 points – Alan Boyd and Russell Moss who will each be credited with £ 5.00. In 4th place with 38 points – Kevin Scott who will be credited with £ 4.00. In 5th equal place with 37 points – Sam Hornell and Jim Jackson who will each be credited with £ 3.00. The remaining £16.00 will be added to the prize fund. Handicap Cuts: Of course, as a result of such high scores, certain individuals have also earned the right to have their handicaps cut in all Monday games prior to the end of this session. Peter 15%; Filippo, Alan and Russell 10% & Kevin 5%. Kind regards, Hugh The undernoted was prepared for us by our technological team (Mike and George)
Your Organisers are aware that some of our members prefer not to enter the regular club medals and other competitions which serve to keep their handicaps up to date. An alternative way to refresh your handicap is to enter a ''General Play Score'' into the Scottish Golf App. Your Organisers feel that a monthly handicap refresh is a good way of ensuring that our weekly competitions are competed for fairly. Our monthly Counters would therefore be a good opportunity to do this. So, if you want to try using the ''General Play Score'' method this coming Monday, one or two of us who have already entered such a score (and experienced some of the pitfalls) will be happy to help you through it. (Please discuss with Mike or George prior to teeing off). Would those of you who have one, please bring your mobile phones with you, and have downloaded the Scottish Golf App in advance. We will endeavour to accommodate those who do not have a mobile phone in some other manner. You can also find more information about handicapping and General Play on our Club Resources page (choose Handicapping). Please let us know if you want to take advantage of this offer. An email to an organiser prior to Monday would be helpful. |
