Not quite a "Senior Moment" in the strictest definition, but brilliant golf nevertheless! Playing in the Trusty Tee-ers Wednesday Group, and despite suffering a knee problem, George Shearer recorded a Hole-in-One at the 12th on the 27th October. Congratulations to George!

Hello Gentlemen,
We have a slight difference in our reporting system for this and next week’s events. These have been prepared and sent to me by the other organisers and, due to the limitations on WiFi where I am and my technological limitations, I will have to send two emails. Draft report and results of todays Waltz 1-2-3 game as follows :- 38 played in blustery but dry weather conditions. Joint winners on 25.67 points Team 1 Billy Wallace , Ricky Byrne and Houston Fyfe. £4 each Team 10 George Shearer , Franklin Henry and Bill Rae. £4 each In second place on 25 points Team 6 Gordon Arbuthnott , George Hunter and Chris Knight £3 each In third place on 24 points Team 9 Drew Carlyle, David Grant and Campbell Leckie £1 each £36 paid into above members accounts leaving £2 for prize fund. Handicaps - On the attached HCapCheck sheet I have changed the heading from “Club H/Cap to Yellow H/Cap. I have done this to reduce confusion and/or misunderstandings. In future, all handicaps given to your organisers should be those denoted on the chart on the Notice Board near our First Tee under Yellow Tees, via HowDidIDo or from the SGU website. Any handicap adjustments (Cuts) earned as a result of exceptional results in “Counters” should not be advised to me but should be applied thereafter. I would therefore be obliged if you would check that my understanding of your “Yellow Handicap”, as stated on the attached, is correct. Please advise me of any changes which should be applied to the attached, at your early convenience, but certainly prior to 25th October 2021. ![]()
Today, 36 of us were scheduled to play. Two of that number could not attend as they were unfit to drive (Vehicles not golf balls….good excuse though!!); one has very honourably decided that he should self-isolate due to matters of a covid nature; and nine players ( including 2 organisers ) opted out due to exceptionally inclement weather (excuses were accepted!), some of whom donated their £1.00 to the Prize Fund.
The Winners with an excellent score of 97 Points were Team 5 Comprising Mike McDougall, George Hunter and Jim Campbell who will each be credited with £5.00. In Second Place with a score of 93 Points were Team 2 Comprising Ricky Byrne, Jim Morrison, Alasdair Stevenson and David Grant who will each be credited with £ 2.00. The remaining £ 1.00 will be put in the Prize Fund. Speed of Play –
Some weeks we are forced to play most of our games in groups of 4. This could result in a slower rate of play and other non-Monday Seniors Group members following us are likely to react badly should they feel that they are being held up. Please therefore:-
On behalf of our organisers, I hope the above has not deterred you from playing golf with us in the future and look forward to seeing you soon. Kind regards, Hugh Today 41 of us (including 2 visitors) were fortunate enough to enjoy, in a mixture of 3 and 4 ball teams, a closely fought competition in what can be described as moderate autumnal breezy weather conditions.
Results – In First Place with a nett score of 56.5 – Team 4 – comprising Eddie Maurer, Alex Henderson and Alex MacLeod who will each be credited with £5.00. In Joint Second Place with a nett score of 57.1 – Team 9 – comprising Hugh Barclay, Gordon Daly, Franklin Henry and George Tindle and Team 10 – comprising Stuart Millar, Chris Knight, Ian Burns and Lester Wilson who will each be credited with £3.00. In Third Place with a nett score of 57.2 – Team 1 - comprising Ricky Byrne, Dave Byrne, George Hunter and Alasdair Stevenson who will each be credited with £2.00. The nett effect of the above is a slight loss which will come out of the Prize Fund. Today 39 of us played in an autumnal cooler breeze, luckily with only very occasional drizzle. The conditions had a slight effect on our scores with only 4 of us suffering handicap cuts for the rest of this session.
Results In first place with 40 Points was Jim Wilson who will be credited with £ 8.00 and who will have a handicap cut of 2 strokes. In second place with 38 Points was Norman Forsythe who will be credited with £ 7.00 and who will have a handicap cut of 1 stroke. In third equal place with 37 Points were Alex Henderson ad Ian Wilson who will each be credited with £ 6.00 and who will each have a handicap cut of 1 stroke. In fourth equal place with 36 Points were Andrew Henderson, Eddie Maurer, John McGuire, Hugh McKail and Sandy Paterson who will each be credited with £ 2.00 The remaining £ 2.00 will be added to our Prize Fund. |
