Hello Gentlemen,
Today 40 of us enjoyed extremely cold conditions when starting our golf. Most of us played initially to winter greens, main greens being brought into play at approximately 11.00. The playing from Red tees using Red Gents Par and Red stroke index caused a fair degree of confusion. That actually resulted in much more checking time being required by your organisers (mainly by Mike and George). Team scores ranged from 15 to a very creditable 21.67 and Individual Scores from a high of 23 Points to a lower number, which I’m not going to state! Individual Results In 1st equal Place with 24 Points Andrew Henderson and Gordon Daly who will each be credited with £ 6.00. In 2nd equal Place with 23 Points Russell Moss, Franklin Henry, Alasdair Stevenson, Jim Morrison and Ricky Byrne who will each be credited with £ 4.00. The remaining £ 8.00 will be added to your Prize Fund. Team Results In 1st Place with 21.67 Points was Team 3 comprising Alasdair Stevenson, Franklin Henry and Hugh Hunter. In 2nd Place with 20.67 Points was Team 8 comprising Hugh Barclay, Jim Morrison and Gordon Arbuthnott. Nearest the Pin In 1 shot at 2nd Hole Russell Moss In 2 Shots at 9th Hole Alex Henderson The Turkey Trot Prizes will be awarded when we next have a Prize Giving Ceremony. On behalf of your organisers, I wish you a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year. Cheers, Hugh

Hello Gentlemen,
It is with much regret that due to the rapid spread of the virus which is posing real danger to members of our Senior golfing group and to our Clubhouse Staff , your organisers have taken the decision that the meal and prize giving element of Monday’s game must be postponed. Please note that the golfing element will still take place and that we look forward to greeting you in time for your tee off on Monday as usual. It is my intention to issue a Final Draw tomorrow which will show any alterations to the initial draw. We hope that the viral threat does not reach you and your family or spoil your Christmas and New Year celebrations (limited as they may be). Kind regards and good wishes, Hugh Today’s weather was initially cool and breezy ( which made it feel quite cold ). It did however warm up slightly. Underfoot conditions were good to soft (for St Nicholas) and slightly slippery in places. 32 of us braved the elements and there were only 6 points between 1st and last positions.
Results In 1st Place with a score of 47 Points – Team 5 Comprised of John Reynolds, Hugh McKail, Andrew Henderson and Jim Campbell who will each be credited with £ 4.00. In 2nd Place with a score of 46 Points – Team 1 Comprised of Andy Fraser, Sam Hornell, John Mitchell and Tom Bissett who will each be credited with £ 2.00. The remaining£ 8.00 will be added to the Prize Fund (which needed a small top up). Next week is our Turkey Trot. The next organised event after that is a “Counter” on 10/01/22. Since we will need to book times over the holiday period, would all persons wishing to take part in that please email me and / or another organiser no later than 28/12/21. Festive Greetings - Your organisers have asked me to thank you all for your continued support and to wish all of you who are unable to attend our Turkey Trot a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Kind regards, Hugh Hello Gentlemen,
28 of us arrived at the clubhouse and paid their £1.00 in the Pro Shop. However, due to wintry weather conditions, only 16 of us teed off in the above event. We had cold temperatures, high winds, hail, rain and even some dry spells which whilst being cold, were a little more tolerable. Not everyone managed to complete 18 holes, but considering the conditions, the top scores were reasonably high. Results In 1st Equal Place with 37 Points were David Grant and George Tindle who will each be credited with £ 6.00. In 2nd Equal Place with 34 Points were Hugh McKail and Kevin Scott who will each be credited with £ 4.00. In 3rd Equal Place with 33 Points were Gordon Arbuthnott, Franklin Henry and George Shearer who will each be credited with £ 2.00. The remaining £ 2.00 will be added to the Prize Fund. Kind regards, Hugh Hello Gentlemen,
Scorecards. You may recollect that we have asked Scorecards to be completed in a certain manner and we thank those who do so. We would like to be kept updated regarding your handicaps, which fairly frequently change, not only via Club competitions but also as a result of cuts following our “Counters”. For transparency reasons, we would like to be able to check cards, especially those in prize winning positions, however, a large number of you appear to complete the cards in a manner which suits the marker but does not facilitate the checking of all details. Therefore, in fairness to all players, cards that cannot be checked may have to be rejected. What we have asked for is :-
Handicap Cuts. As you know handicaps can be cut following a good score during a “Counter” event. These cuts apply to all events in which you take part until the end of that session (currently till the end of March 2022 ). These cuts are notified to all of our group within the list of Prize Winners names for the “Counter” and are thereafter recorded on the sheet used by the Professional to record your weekly check in, consequently for the avoidance of doubt you can always ask the Professional. Currently the following Cuts are in place. -1 :- Norman Forsythe, Alex Henderson, Bill Rae and Ian Wilson -2 :- Jim Wilson -4 :- Sandy Paterson If you have any doubts about any of the above, please contact an Organiser. Kind regards, Hugh |
